On Wednesday, July 8, Little Rock Trojans head baseball coach Chris Curry received a contract extension from the school that will last through the 2031 college baseball season.
Curry commented on receiving the extension in a press release from Little Rock Athletics.
“I am very honored to receive this contract extension from Director of Athletics Frank Cuervo, Chancellor Christina Drale and the Board of Trustees,” Curry said. “I could not be more excited about what we’ve accomplished with Little Rock Baseball and the next chapter we are about to begin as members of the United Athletic Conference (UAC).”
After four seasons in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), Little Rock is joining the newly-formed UAC for the 2027 college baseball season. That will be Curry’s 13th season coaching the Trojans.
Little Rock’s NCAA Tournament success under Curry
In 2025 and 2026, the Little Rock Trojans have not only been a great mid-major program, but they have also made some noise in NCAA Tournaments.
Over those same two seasons, Little Rock has won back-to-back OVC Tournament titles, leading to these NCAA Tournament berths.
In 2025, the Trojans played in the Baton Rouge regional. Curry was able to guide Little Rock to three wins in postseason play at Alex Box Stadium. The LSU Tigers would eventually take down the Trojans in the regional final.
Little Rock was able to beat LSU once in that regional before the Tigers went on to win the 2025 national championship.
In 2026, Little Rock was able to make it further in the NCAA Tournament. The Trojans won the Hattiesburg regional, taking down tough opponents like Southern Miss and Jacksonville State. Both Southern Miss and Jacksonville State won conference titles in 2026.
For the first time in program history, Curry led Little Rock to a super regional. They played the Troy Trojans at Riddle-Pace Field to fight for a chance to make it to the 2026 College World Series.
With Curry remaining at Little Rock, the Trojans seem to be a threat to make it to the NCAA Tournament for years to come. They also seem to be a team opponents do not want to face in the postseason.
