Diminutive Cuban pitcher Yoennis Yera will return to the Olmecas de Tabasco in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol in 2024, according to a report by Yusseff Diaz of Pelota Cubana USA.

Yera has pitched each of the last two summer seasons with Tabasco, going 8-2 in 17 starts with a 3.01 ERA over 86.2 innings of work in 2022, and posting a 4-3 record in 13 starts with a 2.90 ERA in 68.1 innings of work in 2023.

Yera has also made 24 starts in three seasons of winter ball in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico, posting an 11-6 record with a 3.24 ERA, appearing with the Algodoneros de Guasave in 2020-21 and 2021-22 and the Charros de Jalisco in 2022-23.

At 5-6 and 165, Yera doesn’t have the prototypical build for a starting pitcher, but has been effective over a long career in Cuba and Mexico.

In 14 seasons with Matanzas and Holguin in the Serie Nacional, Yera owns a 98-50 career record with an ERA of 3.24 over 1135 innings, and has appeared in four Caribbean Series.
