Oregon Ducks Add Ryan Fineman as New Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator

On Thursday, July 16, the Oregon Ducks added to their baseball coaching staff. Ryan Fineman is Oregon’s new associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.

Fineman just spent the past two college baseball seasons as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Troy Trojans. He also spent a season as an assistant coach with the Old Dominion Monarchs before his time at Troy.

Fineman has big shoes to fill as he is replacing the former associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, Jack Marder, who is now with the Texas Longhorns. Marder spent seven seasons in Eugene with the Ducks.

Fineman and why his time at Troy is valuable

In 2025 and 2026, the Troy Trojans won 78 total games with Fineman on the coaching staff. In 2026, he was a part of a Troy team that made the College World Series for the first time in program history.

The knowledge needed to get to the College World Series is a big deal. The next step for Oregon baseball is to get to the College World Series. The Ducks have not been to Omaha in 72 years.

Oregon head coach Mark Wasikowski has led the Ducks to three super regionals this decade. However, Oregon has come up short of making it to the College World Series each time. Despite losing Marder, Fineman can be the one to push the Ducks on to competing for a national championship.

Wasikowski talked about the hiring of Fineman more in a press release from Oregon Athletics.

“Ryan [Fineman] is a high character baseball guy who has great connections throughout the entire amateur baseball landscape,” Wasikowski said. “He has excelled as a recruiting coordinator at a tremendous level, evidenced by last year’s College World Series run at Troy University.”

Oregon 2026 season results

In 2026, the Oregon Ducks finished with a 43-18 overall record. They also had a 20-10 record in Big Ten play. The Ducks finished third in the Big Ten standings behind the UCLA Bruins and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The Ducks hosted a regional at PK Park in Eugene for the second straight season. They won the regional championship and played the Texas Longhorns in the Austin super regional. The Longhorns were able to beat the Ducks in two straight games to advance to the 2026 College World Series.
