Robert Prevost probably never dreamed of being center stage at the White Sox’s ballpark. But Pope Leo commands that type of respect and audience.
A religious celebration at Rate Field paid tribute to the new Pope, a Chicago-native, who delivered a pre-recorded message to tens of thousands of fans in attendance at the ballpark.
“When I see each and every one of you, when I see how people gather together to celebrate their faith, I discover myself how much hope there is in the world,” Leo said in his message.
Prevost has sat in those stands as a fan of the Sox, and when time permits, will throw out a first pitch thanks to an invite from the ball club.
We’re all in for the Pope Leo ballpark tour when he does return to his native United States …
