This past weekend, the Savannah Bananas played an exhibition game against the Party Animals at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C., the home of Clemson Tigers football.
The crowd was the largest in the team’s history as 81,000 people were in attendance. This was the second time the Bananas sold out a football stadium after selling out Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., on March 15.
The game had lots of Clemson pageantry as the team ran down the hill like the Tigers football team does on fall Saturdays. Clemson football legends C.J. Spiller and head coach Dabo Swinney joined the Bananas for the run into “Death Valley”.
It was the second time the team made the trip to Clemson, as they played the Tigers baseball team for an exhibition game in the fall.
This game is one of many Savannah has and will play at large sporting venues. They have upcoming games at many Major League Baseball stadiums, including Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., and Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., the homes of the Los Angeles Angels and Kansas City Royals respectively.
Clemson is not the only college the Bananas will be travelling to. They will also make trips to many college ballparks on their schedule, including Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge La., Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark., and even Dudy Noble Field in Starkville, Miss.
Savannah’s next set of games will be from May 2-4 back at home in Grayson Stadium. Afterward, they will head to Nashville and play at Nissan Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.
