On Friday, July 24, the Arkansas Razorbacks and Shogo Miyauchi made history. The Chukyo University Senior High School prospect signed with the Razorbacks and became the first Japanese-born player to sign with a Southeastern Conference (SEC) school.
According to Whole Hog Sports, Miyauchi has been working out in Tokyo this summer and is expected to head to Fayetteville to join Arkansas in August.
What kind of player is Miyauchi?
Miyauchi is an 18-year-old, six-foot-five-inch right-handed pitcher. According to Razorbacks on SI reporter Grayson Pierce, Miyauchi’s pitching arsenal features a mid-90s fastball, a low-80s slider-cutter, and a low-80s forkball.
2026 Arkansas season results
In 2026, the Arkansas Razorbacks finished the season 41-22 overall and were 17-13 in SEC play. The Razorbacks made the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season and played in the Lawrence regional, which the Kansas Jayhawks hosted.
