Shohei Ohtani To Make $100 Million in Endorsements

Shohei Ohtani has risen to stardom and seen incredible success in his seven years in Major League Baseball. Last offseason, the Japanese two-way player signed with the Dodgers for $700 million over ten years, the largest contract in MLB history. In addition to his endorsements, it is being reported that Ohtani is making record numbers for an MLB player.

Ken Rosenthal from The Athletic reported that the two-time MVP is making almost $100 million in endorsements, possibly more. This number does not include his monstrous contract, which is only paying Ohtani $2 million right now. This number is much larger than projections that he recently came out from Sportico and Forbes, who in May said Ohtani was estimated to be making around $60 million.

Ohtani has been dominant on the field since he began his MLB career in 2018, which has translated to commercial success. The 30-year-old is far ahead of his MLB peers in these numbers. On the Sportico list, Bryce Harper is the closest player to Ohtani, with $7 million earned off endorsements.

Few MLB fans have seen his success on the field before, and as Ohtani continues to perform on the field, his endorsement will only rise. Ohtani recently made waves when his signature New Balance collection, including his own shoe, was released.

As the MLB nears its end, Ohtani could secure his third MVP and cement himself in more history. The Dodgers DH is batting .298 with an NL-best 35 home runs.
