Steven Kwan was promoted to the Majors in 2022; since then, he has done nothing but shine at the plate and, most importantly, with his glove. 2024 marks the third straight year Kwan has won a Gold Glove. Kwan joins Ichiro Suzuki as the only two players to win a gold glove in their first three seasons in the MLB.
Since being called up in 2022, Kwan has done nothing but hit while also not striking out. In 2022, Kwan finished third in the AL Rookie Of the Year. He finished that year with a line of .298/.373/.400. He also led all left fielders with 21 DRS and 10 OOA(outs above average).
In the offseason, Shohei Ohtani almost recruited Kwan, who is of Chinese and Japanese descent, to play for Japan in the World Baseball Classic. Kwan did not end up playing in the WBC but had another great year in 2023.
He had a strong slash line of .268/.340/.370 that season. He also led the AL in lowest k% while dominating all left fielders, leading the group in DRS (16) and OOA(9).
In 2024, Kwan was on his way to having his best season before an injury sidelined him for three weeks in May. Even with the injury Kwan had a great year at the plate and in the field. He slashed .292/.368/.425 while having a career-high in homers with 14. Kwan once again led all left fielders in DRS(10) and OOA (3) en route to his first career all-star game and third straight gold glove.
