KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On Tuesday, April 28, the Tennessee Volunteers defeated the West Georgia Wolves 13-0 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The game ended in the seventh inning by way of a run rule.
For Tennessee, it was their 30th win of the season, and they had 14 hits as a team and struck out nine West Georgia hitters.
Five different Tennessee players with home runs
The home run hitting started early in the game for the Volunteers. After back-to-back base hits, Reese Chapman hit a three-run home run to put Tennessee on the board.
Chapman led the Volunteers in RBIs with four.
Right after Chapman’s at-bat, Levi Clark hit a massive solo home run to extend Tennessee’s lead out to 4-0.

Tennessee would hit two more home runs in the second inning. Manny Marin hit a solo home run out to left field. Then, Henry Ford hit a three-run home run to extend Tennessee’s lead out to 8-0.
Freshman outfielder Nate Eisfelder hit a solo home run in the fourth inning as well. It was the second home run of his Tennessee career.
The freshman talked about what has been working so well with Tennessee’s offense during this three-game winning streak against both Alabama and West Georgia.
“Our guys have been staying on fastballs,” Eisfelder said. “When we do that, we are at our best. It has been more effective for us lately.”
Freshmen Pitchers show out against the Wolves
Four different freshman pitchers had multiple strikeouts during the win over the Wolves.
Cam Appenzeller, Ethan Baiotto, Will Haas, and Taylor Tracey all had two strikeouts apiece.
A total of nine pitchers appeared against West Georgia for Tennessee. None of them threw more than 15 pitches during their respective outings.
Tennessee head coach Josh Elander talked about the pitching performance tonight from his team.
“All of our pitchers did phenomenal tonight,” said Elander. “No one threw a ton of pitches, and everyone attacked the strike zone.”
