KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On Sunday, April 19, the Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Ole Miss Rebels 13-5 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
It is Tennessee’s eighth win in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play as they salvaged the weekend series against the Rebels.
Tennessee head coach Josh Elander spoke about his team’s win on Sunday.
“It was a really good sign and a really good day from our group,” Elander said. “We just need to make sure we get there more often than not.”
Levi Clark and Blake Grimmer hit five home runs combined
First baseman Levi Clark. He had two home runs against Ole Miss in Sunday’s win and also had four RBIs.
Clark talked about his big-time game against Ole Miss and how he has been trying to improve recently.
“I’ve just been working with the coaches a lot over the last few weeks,” said Clark. “They have been helping me out a lot…They [Ole Miss] hung some pitches for me today as well.”

Clark now has six home runs this season and 14 home runs in his Tennessee career.
The Tennessee first baseman was not the only player with multiple home runs in the win over the Rebels. Blake Grimmer had three home runs in Sunday’s game against Ole Miss.
Grimmer finished the day with four hits and six RBIs. The Tennessee second baseman talked about his explosive day and the approaches he was taking.
“The approach going in was catching balls out front,” Grimmer said. “They pitched toward the inside three times, and I was able to put some barrels to it.”
For the first time this season, Tennessee had multiple players hit multiple home runs in one game. The six home runs the Volunteers hit in the game tied a program record for most home runs in a single game as well.
Henry Ford had a big offensive day for Tennessee, offensive improvement for the Vols as a team
Henry Ford also provided a spark for the Volunteers on offense against Ole Miss on Sunday.
Ford had four hits and three RBIs. He led the Volunteers in hitting, and it was his second multi-hit performance of the weekend.
The three RBIs Ford had came on a three-run home run in the eighth inning to extend Tennessee’s lead out to 11-5.

Sunday’s game was a massive improvement offensively for Tennessee compared to Saturday’s game.
The Volunteers finished with 14 hits in Sunday’s win. During Saturday’s loss to Ole Miss, Tennessee only had two hits.
Elander talked about the massive improvements for his team offensively in their win over the Rebels.
“I thought it was huge,” Elander said. “It was cool to see a bunch of different guys have quality at-bats. They were using the whole field. It was a really good day for our group, and it shows what we are capable of.”
Up next for Tennessee
The Tennessee Volunteers now have a 26-14 overall record and are 8-10 in SEC play.
