College baseball kicks off in just over a month. When the season commences, the first few weeks will have plenty of non-conference action, with some of the top teams facing off against each other at neutral sites. Here are the top five college baseball invitational events during non-conference play in 2025.

  1. Astros Foundation College Classic, Feb. 28-Mar. 2, Houston

The Houston Astros will host six teams at the end of February and beginning of March. This event features some elite teams around the country.

  • Tennessee Volunteers
  • Texas A&M Aggies
  • Mississippi State Bulldogs
  • Oklahoma State Cowboys
  • Arizona Wildcats
  • Rice Owls

The two teams from the 2024 National Championship (Tennessee and Texas A&M) and one of college baseball’s most historic programs (Mississippi State) are three good representatives to have from the SEC.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are a consensus top-25 team and one of the best squads from the Big 12. This description can also be used for the Arizona Wildcats, who are also heading to Houston for the event.

This field is strong with great teams, making it the best invitational towards the beginning of the season.

  1. Shriners Children’s College Showdown, Feb. 14-Feb. 16, Arlington, Texas

Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, is hosting a ton of teams during non-conference play this season. However, the Shriners Children’s College Showdown that begins on Valentine’s Day has a stacked lineup of teams.

  • Texas Longhorns
  • Ole Miss Rebels
  • Clemson Tigers
  • Louisville Cardinals
  • Oklahoma State Cowboys
  • Arizona Wildcats

Texas and Clemson are two standout teams looking to compete for a national championship in 2025. The same two top-tier Big 12 teams in Houston will also be in Arlington for this invitational.

Louisville and Ole Miss round out the Shriners Children’s College Showdown field as well-rounded programs from the ACC and SEC. This will be one of the must-watch invitationals during college baseball’s opening weekend.

  1. Jax College Baseball Classic, Feb. 21-23, Jacksonville, Fla.

The second weekend of the college baseball season has a great four-team invitational at 121 Financial Ballpark in Jacksonville, Fla. The Jax College Baseball Classic offers a balanced field of teams.

  • Alabama Crimson Tide
  • C. State Wolfpack
  • Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
  • Ohio State Buckeyes

Alabama is coming off a year in the NCAA Tournament and is looking to accomplish more in 2025.

Last season, N.C. State traveled to Omaha and the College World Series, making them a great addition to this field of teams in Jacksonville.

Coastal Carolina is always a serious mid-major contender out of the Sun Belt. Last season, they, along with Alabama, made the NCAA Tournament.

This is an underrated group of teams who will face off in Jacksonville in late February.

  1. Karbach Round Rock Classic, Feb. 21-23, Round Rock, Texas

Some big programs will collide in late February at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. The Karbach Round Rock Classic delivers a field with some of the country’s best teams.

  • Oregon State Beavers
  • Virginia Cavaliers
  • Oklahoma Sooners
  • Minnesota Golden Gophers

Many sources regard Oregon State as a top ten team in the country. They will be a contender to make it to the College World Series.

The Virginia Cavaliers are coming off a College World Series appearance a season ago and are returning a lot of players from that team. They have a chance to be one of the best teams in the country this upcoming season.

The Oklahoma Sooners are also no slouch. Head coach Skip Johnson brought in a lot of JUCO talent to Norman. They also hosted a regional in the NCAA Tournament last season.

The Karbach Round Rock Classic has some of college baseball’s best teams in its field.

  1. Las Vegas College Baseball Classic, Feb. 28-Mar. 2, Las Vegas

Las Vegas Ballpark will host some big-time teams during non-conference play. This field contains four teams and will take place at the end of February and beginning of March.

  • Texas Longhorns
  • Texas Tech Red Raiders
  • Washington Huskies
  • Illinois Fighting Illini

The Texas Longhorns headline the event. With new head coach Jim Schlossnagle at the helm, the team is hungry for a national championship.

The Illinois Fighting Illini are coming off a Big Ten championship and are another good addition to this underrated field in Las Vegas.
