For the second-straight season, the UCLA Bruins won the Big Ten regular season championship. The championship fell into the Bruins’ hands after sweeping the Michigan State Spartans.
The sweep over Michigan State moved UCLA’s Big Ten record to 24-0 on the season. The Bruins also have a record of 43-4 overall in 2026.
Dominance continues for the number one team in college baseball
UCLA’s run through Big Ten conference play and the season as a whole has been something to behold.
The Bruins’ last Big Ten loss in regular season play was nearly a full year ago. It happened on May 15, 2025, against the Northwestern Wildcats.
UCLA has also won four straight games and has only lost twice in its last 12 games.
Nationally, the Bruins continue to show that they are the best pitching team in the country. UCLA has the number one team ERA in college baseball at 3.30 over the course of 417 total innings.
The Bruins also are third in the Big Ten in strikeouts with 456 as a pitching staff. The only two teams in the conference with more strikeouts are USC (486) and Oregon (501).
Up next for UCLA
The UCLA Bruins will play the Loyola Marymount Lions on Tuesday, May 5. That game is at Page Stadium in Los Angeles, and the first pitch is at 9 p.m. ET.
The Bruins played the Lions once already this season. On March 24, at Jackie Robinson Stadium, UCLA defeated Loyola Marymount 6-2.
