USA Baseball announced on April 1 that Andy Stankiewicz will manage the 2025 Collegiate National Team for its international series against Japan’s Collegiate All-Star Team this summer. The series will take place from July 8–13 across multiple venues in Japan.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Andy back to manage this year’s Collegiate National Team,” said Eric Campbell, USA Baseball’s General Manager of Collegiate and Professional National Teams, in the organization’s official announcement. “He has had a lot of success not just at the collegiate level, but also with Team USA, and he knows what it takes to win on the international stage. We are confident that Andy will guide our team to a great deal of success while providing unparalleled guidance to the top non-draft eligible players in the country.”

The final roster will be selected following the annual Stars vs. Stripes series, scheduled for June 29 through July 3 at venues across North Carolina. Select players may also be chosen to compete in a Fourth of July game against the Appalachian League Select Team in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Stankiewicz will have Rusty Filter as his pitching coach, Omar Johnson as the first base coach, Bill Mosiello as the third base coach, Carlos Muñoz as the bullpen coach, and Don Wakamatsu as the bench/hitting coach. They will coach the Stars Team at the Collegiate National Team Training Camp and the squad that will compete in the 45th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series.
Brad Brown is also on the Collegiate National Team coaching staff as the video and data analyst and currently holds this position with Oregon State’s program.
Filter finished his eighth season as head coach at Santa Clara, and the 2025 season marked Stankiewicz’s third season at the University of Southern California.
Stankiewicz returns to USA Baseball for the fifth time as a coach. Johnson recently wrapped up his 18th season with Jackson State’s program.
Mosiello is the associate head coach at TCU and helped the program reach the NCAA Regional in the first season of his second stint in Fort Worth, Texas.
Wakamatsu held managerial positions with the Seattle Mariners from 2009–10 and with the Texas Rangers in 2018.
Wakamatsu also held coaching positions with the Kansas City Royals from 2014–17, helping them win their second World Series title in 2015. He also held roles with the Rangers from 2003–07, the Oakland Athletics in 2008, the Toronto Blue Jays from 2011–12, and returned to Texas from 2018–21.
Wakamatsu currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the Oakland Ballers in the Pioneer League.
For the 2025 season, Filter and Wakamatsu will be coaching with the USA Baseball National Team for the first time.
Johnson will return with USA Baseball, having coached at the 2023 Collegiate National Team Training Camp. Mosiello was on the 2017 U18 National Team staff.
For the rest of the 2025 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team season, Jonathan Hernandez will manage the Stripes Team and the Collegiate National Team Prospects squad.
