Vindija Varazdin, Apollo Bratislava Advance to 2024 Baseball European Federation Cup Final In Croatia

The 2024 BEFC in Group Croatia will be from June 6-9 at Baseball Club Vindija in Varaždin, Croatia. 

All 2024 BEFC games in Group Croatia will be played at the Baseball Club Vindija. 

The four participating teams that are at the 2024 BEFC in Group Croatia are the Apollo Bratislava from the Slovenskej Baseballovej Federácie, the Sofia Blues from the Bulgarian Baseball Softball Federation, the Vindija Varaždin from the Hrvatski Baseball Savez, and the Zurich Challengers from the Swiss Baseball and Softball Federation. The Hrvatski Baseball Savez is also referred to as the Croatian Baseball Association.  

All 2024 BEFC in Group Croatia live games are streamed with a paid subscription on https://baseballeurope.tv/home.

The Round Robin of the 2024 BEFC in Group Croatia will be played from June 6-8. 

(3-0) Apollo Bratislava (SVK) 18, (0-3) Zurich Challengers (SUI) 9 

The Apollo Bratislava remained undefeated at the 2024 BEFC in Group Croatia on Saturday and beat the Zurich Challengers 18-9. 

The Apollo Bratislava offense had 19 hits on Saturday and their defense committed four errors. 

The Apollo Bratislava pitching staff between starting pitcher Slavomir Masac, relief pitchers Timothy Dixon, Daniel Orlicky, and Matus Repasky threw nine innings, allowing 11 hits, seven earned runs, seven walks, and nine strikeouts. 

The Zurich Challengers pitching staff with starting pitcher Tobias Christian Siegrist and relief pitcher Jason Karl Wuega threw nine innings, allowing 17 earned runs, nine walks, and seven strikeouts. 

Apollo Bratislava catcher Filip Zrubec launched a grand slam over the center field wall in the top of the second inning and finished the day with three hits, five RBI, one walk, one strikeout, and scored three runs in his five at-bats. 

Apollo Bratislava outfielder Tomas Boraros rocked a two-run home run over the center field wall in the top of the second inning and had two hits, three RBI, one walk, one strikeout, and scored once in his five at-bats. 

Apollo Bratislava designated hitter Matej Rudohradsky had a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning and smacked four hits, three RBI, and scored four runs in his six at-bats. 

Apollo Bratislava second baseman Alexander Vaclavik recorded two hits, one RBI, and scored two runs in his three at-bats. 

Zurich Challengers utility player Ryan Olivier Byrne in his six at-bats had three hits, three RBI, and scored once. 

Zurich Challengers utility player Noah Benjamin Nussbaum Hernandez smacked three hits, three RBI, one walk, and scored two runs in his four at-bats. 

The Apollo Bratislava offense had five runs in the top of the first inning and six runs in the top of the second inning during their win on Saturday. 

(1-2) Sofia Blues (BUL) 4, (2-1) Vindija Varazdin (CRO) 14  F/7 

On the third day of the 2024 BEFC in Group Croatia, the Vindija Varazdin beat the Sofia Blues 14-4 in seven innings via the mercy rule on Saturday.

Vindija Varazdin starting pitcher Isaac Antonio Cardenas Cordero threw seven innings and allowed nine hits, four earned runs, six walks, and eight strikeouts. 

Sofia Blues starting pitcher Dimitar Nassapov took the loss and threw six innings, allowing 19 hits, 12 earned runs, two walks, and three strikeouts. 

Nassapov also hit a three-run home run in the top of the third inning over the right-center field fence on Saturday and finished the day with two hits, three RBI, two walks, and scored two runs in his two at-bats. 

Vindija Varazdin center fielder Petar Zalac had a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning over the left field wall and had three hits, one RBI, one strikeout, and scored three runs in his five at-bats. 

Vindija Varazdin first baseman Jan Mlinaric in his three at-bats had three hits, four RBI, and scored three runs. 

Vindija Varaždin shortstop Juan Angel Morao Martinez drilled a three-run home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the third inning and ended the day with two hits, three RBI, two walks, and scored two runs in his three at-bats. 

Vindija Varaždin third baseman Nino Kruhek in his five at-bats had a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning over the left field wall during Saturday’s win. 

The Vindija Varazdin will play the Apollo Bratislava in the 2024 BEFC championship game in Group Croatia at 8 a.m. EST on June 9.
