Nestor Cortes won’t be wearing the red, white, and blue in the World Baseball Classic.
The Yankees lefthander will miss the World Baseball Classic with a hamstring injury, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported on Monday. Rosenthal noted that
Multiple outlets reported that Cortes’ injury is merely a tweak and that the lefty hopes to start the regular season on time.
Cortes, 28, missed time last season with a groin injury, and left Game Four of last year’s ALCS against Houston after reaggravating that injury.
He’ll be replaced on the United States roster by Colorado Rockies lefty Kyle Freeland, according to MLB.com.
