2025 CPB Team Previews: Curacao Suns

The 2025 Curacao Professional Baseball League (CPB) is about to begin. Here is a team preview of the Curacao Suns before the action starts later this month.

The Suns will be managed by Ghionelo Jansen, a member of Curacao’s 2024 Caribbean Series team’s coaching staff.

Didi Gregorius is a former major leaguer on the team who can take the leadership role within the lineup.

Gregorius spent time mostly playing for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees.

Another big name within the lineup is Sharlon Schoop. He recently has spent time representing Curacao in international events during 2023 and 2024.

Some pitchers on the team to know include Wilmer Bazur, Keymer Reyes, Gedryon Basilia, etc.

It is also important to note that the Suns completed a trade with the Willemstad Cannons and acquired utility player Swindly Lint in exchange for Ericson Leonora.

The Suns will play their two regular season games on back-to-back days. Here is their schedule below.

Jan. 16 – Curacao Suns v. Willemstad Cannons

Jan. 17 – Curacao Goats v. Curacao Suns

Both games are scheduled for 8 p.m. E.T. and will be played at Tio Daou Ballpark in Willemstad.

A finish among either first or second place for the Suns puts them in the CPB Championship game on Jan. 19. That game is scheduled for 7 p.m. E.T.
