The 2025 Serie A1 Italian Baseball League regular season will begin Friday, April 11.
Operated by the Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball (FIBS), Serie A1 serves as a platform for domestic talent aiming to play college baseball in the United States or sign professional contracts during the international signing period.
The Italian Baseball League has operated since 1948. Nettuno BC 1945 holds the most championships with 17. Parma Clima won the 2024 title, defeating San Marino in five games.
Serie A1 includes five divisions—Groups A, B, C, D, and E—with 30 teams competing across Italy. Full schedules, rosters, and league information are available on FIBS.it.
Only Group A will take the field on Opening Day, April 11. The first game features UnipolSai Fortitudo Bologna on the road against San Marino at Campo Baseball Comunale La Ciarulla in Serravalle, San Marino, with first pitch at 2 p.m. EDT. Also in Group A, Parma Clima will open their title defense on the road against Palfinger Reggio Emilia at Stadio Baseball Caselli in Reggio nell’Emilia, also at 2 p.m. EDT. Full schedule here.
The rest of the league begins play over the weekend. Live broadcasts and updates will be available through FIBS Channel 1 and FIBS Channel 2.
Former Italy national team player Marco Mazzieri is the current president of FIBS.
The 2025 Serie A1 season will be a key scouting ground for Italy’s bullpen depth and secondary roster spots ahead of the 2026 World Baseball Classic. World Series champion Francisco Cervelli will manage Team Italy, which is expected to feature most players on active Major League Baseball and minor league rosters.
Italy will appear in the WBC for the sixth time and will face the United States, Great Britain, Brazil, and Mexico in Pool B at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas.
The U-23 Italy national team will also be closely monitored during the 2025 Serie A1 season as part of long-term roster planning.
FIBS U-23 roster news
Italy also aims to participate in the 2026 Caribbean Series in Caracas, Venezuela, alongside the Japan Breeze, South Korea, Cuba, and the winter league champions from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Venezuela. The event will take place before the start of MLB spring training.
FIBS has not yet announced whether it will send the 2025 Serie A1 champion or a hand-selected all-star team to the Caribbean Series.
As Italy sharpens its international ambitions, the 2025 Serie A1 season takes on global significance. With the Caribbean Series field expanding and the 2026 World Baseball Classic on the horizon, Serie A1 offers a glimpse at rising Italian talent and a proving ground for those seeking collegiate or professional opportunities abroad. The league’s cross-border relevance continues to grow.
