The Troy Trojans (36-30, 17-13 Sun Belt) will host the Little Rock Trojans (39-26, 16-11 OVC) in a super regional at Riddle-Pace Field during the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Both teams are in a super regional for the first time in their respective histories. Thus, Troy and Little Rock are seeking their first-ever trip to the College World Series.
Here is World Baseball Network’s preview of the Troy super regional.
Troy offense tallies 64 hits in the Gainesville regional
The Troy Trojans are coming off a championship in the Gainesville regional. Great offense was on display for the Trojans with 64 hits across all five games they played.
After a loss to open the regional against the Miami Hurricanes, Troy went on to win four-straight games to win the Gainesville regional. They defeated the Florida Gators twice on Sunday and Monday in the Gainesville regional final. During Sunday’s game, the Trojans had 17 hits and scored 16 runs.
Troy had five home runs in Sunday’s win over the Gators and had 11 home runs during all five games at Condron Family Ballpark.
The Trojans are in a good spot as they are set to face Little Rock. With three games in Gainesville where they scored double figures in runs, the offense will be potent as they head back home to Alabama for their super regional matchup.
Little Rock is coming off a regional sweep in Hattiesburg
The Little Rock Trojans have won eight straight games, which includes the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) tournament and the Hattiesburg regional at Pete Taylor Park. Their last loss was on May 21 to the SIU Edwardsville Cougars.
In Hattiesburg, the Trojans won three games and swept the regional for the championship. Little Rock won a game over Southern Miss and also defeated Jacksonville State twice. In those three games, Little Rock had 38 hits.
The Trojans have proved that they are not a team to overlook in postseason play. In 2025 and 2026, Little Rock has a 6-2 record in NCAA Tournament games.
A player to watch in Troy for Little Rock is infielder Blake Simpson. He was a unanimous selection for the Hattiesburg regional All-Tournament team and was a part of the OVC’s All-Tournament team as well. Simpson has 18 hits this postseason and is on a 10-game hitting streak.
