With the Premier12 tournament just 11 days away, most teams are finished creating their rosters and are focused on practicing, but there is some drama coming out of Venezuela surrounding shortstop Alexi Amarista.
Amarista is currently the shortstop for the Venezuelan winter league ball team Tigres de Aragua and was also selected to the Venezuelan Premier12 team. However, some internal drama is distracting the team as they prepare for their first game on November 9.
In a statement released on October 28, the Venezuelan baseball national claimed that the Tigres de Aragua are attempting to pressure Amarista not to attend the tournament he was selected to play in. The translated text states that the entire team, players, and coaching staff publicly reject the pressure that Amarista is facing from his winter ball team not to attend the Premier12 tournament.
The Tigres released a statement saying that Amarista has been given the green light to go and play and that they never wanted him not to play.
After that statement, Amarista went on Instagram and said he would be giving back the house the team provided for him and would like to be on a new team.
The entire Premier12 tournament will be streamed on DAZN, and it starts on November 9!
