This weekend, the Arkansas Razorbacks completed a series sweep of the Texas Longhorns at home in Baum-Walker Stadium. The series sweep makes them 40-9 overall and 17-7 in SEC play. They are the first team in the country to get to the 40-win mark.
During the series opener on Thursday, Arkansas shut out Texas in a 9-0 win. Starting pitcher Zach Root was excellent for the Razorbacks as he pitched eight innings and struck out 11 batters. He also gave up only two hits.
On Friday, the Razorbacks clinched the series win with a 6-1 win. The pitching was great again, with starter Gage Wood and reliever Gabe Gaeckle combining for 14 strikeouts in seven innings. Aiden Jimenez shut down the final two innings with only 33 pitches.
Arkansas then got the series sweep with a win on Saturday. The offense was explosive from both teams as the Razorbacks won 13-8. Texas led early in the fourth inning. However, the Razorbacks responded to take the lead back and went on to win the game.
Reese Robinett had a monster game with two home runs with six RBI. Justin Thomas Jr. Kuhio Aloy also homered in the game for Arkansas.
This series sweep over Texas, the number one team in the country, was massive for Arkansas. They had lost three straight SEC weekend series leading up to this matchup. Now, they have propelled themselves back into the mix of upper-echelon teams in college baseball.
