Australia Announced as Participant In 2023 Asian Professional Baseball Championship

Nippon Professional Baseball and NPB Enterprise announced their confirmation of being the host country for the second Asia Professional Baseball Championship (APBC), which will be held in the Tokyo Dome for the first time since 2017. Full-Count Japan Baseball reported the story first. 

Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan have already been confirmed to be sending teams, along with Australia, who will join them for the first time in the APBC. Australia did not participate in the APBC when it was first held in 2017. 

The tournament will be a U-24 age group event held by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. Players having up to three years of service with clubs in their countries’ home leagues are eligible to play. 

Two games will be played daily at the Tokyo Dome during round robin qualifying from November 16-18. The consolation game and final will be held on the November 19. The total prize money of the tournament will be 53 million yen.
