The Georgia Bulldogs are looking to rebound after they devastatingly got swept by the Texas Longhorns. The rebound will be a tall task as the next opponent on the slate for them this weekend is the Arkansas Razorbacks, the number one team in the country.
Georgia gets a big benefit in this series as they will be at home in Foley Field in Athens. The Bulldogs are an astonishing 22-1 at home this season. They have won two SEC series already at Foley Field against Kentucky and Auburn.
In other words, Georgia has a chance to fare better against the Razorbacks at home. That said, Arkansas has been solid away from Fayetteville with a 5-1 record in true road games and a 3-1 record at neutral sites. They have already won two SEC series on the road against Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.
After being swept by Texas, Georgia’s offense was held in check by the Longhorns’ pitching staff. This Bulldogs team leads the country in home runs with 92 and averages over two and a half of them per game. It is an integral part of their style of play.
Although Arkansas’ pitching staff is not on the level of the Texas staff, it still boasts the 10th-best team ERA in the country at 3.52. The Bulldogs do need to hit flat out better than they did a weekend ago in Austin, Texas. They only managed to score eight runs the whole weekend.
That said, Georgia has an opportunity to take down the number one team in their own ballpark. If the hitting wakes up and shows up like it has all season outside of the Texas series, the Bulldogs give themselves a chance against this great Arkansas team.
The first pitch between Georgia and Arkansas at Foley Field is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT.
