Caribbean Series: Reynaldo Rodriguez Will Play for Mexico

The Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico announced that Reynaldo Rodriguez will play for Caneros de Los Mochis, who won the LAMP championship, at the 2023 Caribbean Series in Venezuela.

Rodriguez, 36, had been expected to play for his native Colombia with LBPC champion Vaqueros de Monteria, and had been announced as a member of that team for the Caribbean Series earlier today. He was the MVP of the 2022 Caribbean Series with Caimanes de Baranquilla, the first Colombian team to win a Caribbean Series title.

A former New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Minnesota Twins farmhand, Rodriguez split the 2022-23 winter league season between Vaqueros de Monteria in Colombia and Aguilas de Mexicali in Mexico. In 11 games with the Vaqueros, Rodriguez slashed .455/.667/.727 with two RBI and seven walks. In 57 games with Mexicali, he batted .259/.311/.698 with four homers and 25 RBI.

He replaced Yasmany Tomas on the Mexican roster, who will miss the Caribbean Series for personal reasons.
