Tinney in 2026 with Texas
The go-ahead grand slam by Tinney against UTSA is a microcosm of his 2026 season with the Texas Longhorns.
In 164 at-bats, Tinney has a .317 batting average and a .469 on-base percentage. He also has nine doubles, 17 home runs, and 44 RBIs. He has the second-most home runs for the Longhorns behind his teammate, Aiden Robbins, who has 18. Tinney has 15 multi-hit games this season.
The two-hit game against the Roadrunners was a big-time comeback for the Texas catcher. He went hitless in 11 at-bats against Mississippi State this past weekend.
Tinney transferred to Texas from Notre Dame for the 2026 college baseball season. In 2025 with the Fighting Irish, he had a .348 batting average, a .498 on-base percentage, 17 home runs, and 53 RBIs.
He was first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He received third-team and first-team All-American honors from outlets such as D1 Baseball, Baseball America, and the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
