On Thursday, Chinese Taipei won its second game of Premier12, 2-1, over the Dominican Republic. This puts them at the top of the Pool B standings for the time being.

Tzu-Peng Huang got the start for Taipei and kept the Dominican Republic off the board for six innings. He added on four strikeouts and walked just one batter. Even more impressive, Huang gave up no hits during his start.

Chinese Taipei got on the scoreboard first in the third inning as Kun-Tu Chiang hit a solo home run that made it 1-0. They tacked on their second run of the game as Li Lin hit a sac fly that scored Chen-Wei Chen, making it 2-0.

Chun-Wei Wu earned the save for Taipei. However, the Dominican Republic made it interesting as Ranier Núñez scored on a ground out, making it a 2-1 game. Then, Wu struck out Arismendy Alcántara to end the game and prevent further harm to Chinese Taipei’s lead.

Wu was not the only reliever who looked impressive. The other three Taipei relievers gave up just one hit each, walked no batters, and gave up no runs. They also struck out five Dominican hitters combined.

Despite the loss, the Dominican Republic will play Australia at 2 a.m. E.T. on Nov. 15 at Taipei Tianmu Baseball Stadium.

Chinese Taipei has the day off tomorrow and will play against Japan on Saturday, Nov. 16. This game will be in the Taipei Dome, with the first pitch scheduled for 5 a.m. E.T.
