On Monday, Chinese Taipei defeated Cuba 2-0 inside the Taipei Dome to secure a spot in the Premier12 super round with Japan, Venezuela, and the United States. Great pitching was the story for Taipei in this game.

Seven different pitchers made appearances for Taipei in this game. In a combined effort, they all gave up just four hits, no walks, and no runs. They also all struck out 11 batters.

Chih-Hsuan Wang was credited for the win, and Chun-Wei Wu recorded the save in the game as well. Kuan-Wei Chen led the way in the strikeouts for Chinese Taipei with three in his 1.2 innings of work.

The scoring from Taipei came in the third and fourth innings. Kunkuan Giljegiljaw hit an RBI double, making it a 1-0 game. Then, a fielder’s choice play head started by Cheng-Yu Chang made it a 2-0 game.

Chinese Taipei’s win earned them the fourth and final spot in the Premier12 super round in Tokyo. To begin the round this week, they will play Venezuela in the Tokyo Dome on Nov. 20. The first pitch is scheduled for 10 p.m. E.T.

With the loss, Cuba finishes Premier12 play 1-4 in Pool B.
