Colombia’s Liga Beisbol Profesional Colombiano Will Play 2025-26 Season With Four Teams; Season Starts Nov. 28

The Liga Beisbol Profesional Colombiano’s 2025-26 season will start Nov. 28, and the league will play a 30-game regular season schedule with four teams.

In the 2024-25 season, the LBPC had five teams play during the regular season with four teams making the playoffs. Los Leones SA, who are based at Estadio Edgar Renteria in Barranquilla, Colombia, will sit out the 2025-26 season.

“Since March of this year, we have been working intensively in the commercial area, making visits and presentations to various companies in the public and private sector. Despite these efforts, they could not get the necessary support to guarantee our participation in the next tournament,” Los Leones said in a post on the team’s Facebook page. “We deeply appreciate everyone who has provided their support during this process and reiterate our commitment to sport and to our fans. We will work from now on to return in the 2026-2027 season, strengthened and with new opportunities.”

With the Leones out, the league will have four active franchises this season: the reigning champion Caimanes de Barranquilla, last year’s runner up, the Vaqueros de Monteria, the Tigres de Cartagena, and the Toros de Sincelejo.

The 30-game regular season will begin on Thursday, Nov. 28 and conclude on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, with the top two teams advancing directly to the championship series.
Starting on Monday, Jan. 20, 2026, the LBPC championship series will be a best-of-seven format, with the team finishing atop the regular season standings hosting Games 1, 2, 6, and 7, and the team that finishes second hosting Games 3, 4, and 5. The winner of the LBPC championship series will represent the league at the 2026 Serie de Las Americas, which will be played Jan. 24-30, 2026, in La Chorrera and Panama City, Panama.
The LBPC was invited to send a team to the 2026 Caribbean Series, scheduled to be held Jan. 30 to Feb. 7, 2026 in Caracas and La Guaira, Venezuela, but declined, citing the costs involved and the league’s commitment to the Serie de Las Americas. Colombia last sent a team to the Caribbean Series in 2023, when the Vaqueros de Monteria represented the LBPC at the last Caribbean Series that was played in Caracas and La Guaira.
