Federashon Beisbol Korsou announced the official 24-man roster for Curacao at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, El Salvador on Tuesday.
The baseball tournament will be from June 24 to July 1 at Parque de Pelota Saturnino Bengoa in San Salvador, El Salvador, with seven other nations participating in the event.
Curacao is at No. 32 in the World Baseball Rankings, and will play the host nation, No. 59 El Salvador on June 24 at 10 p.m. EDT. All 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games will be streamed for a fee via the gametime.sport website.
The six other nations participating in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games are No. 7 Cuba, No. 3 Mexico, No. 17 Nicaragua, No. 6 Venezuela, No. 11 Puerto Rico, and No. 10 Dominican Republic.
Curacao qualified for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean games during the 2022 Caribbean Cup at Andre Rodgers Stadium in the Bahamas, where they placed third in the tournament beating, the Bahamas 4-2 in the bronze medal game.
Curacao has won the Caribbean Cup in 2021 on home soil and placed second, losing to the Netherlands by the score of 6-1 in Rotterdam, at the 2022 Haarlem Honkbal Week event.
The roster for the Central American and Caribbean Games will be similar to the team Curacao brought with them to the Bahamas, filled with players that were recently released from professional organizations throughout the world, active international league professionals, their professional leagues on the island from the Rookie, Single-A, and Double-A levels, along with players that have recently played at the collegiate level in the United States.
