Dan Marino to Throw Out First Pitch for Miami Marlins on Opening Day

A Miami sports legend will be present to help open the 2025 Major League Baseball season as former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Miami Marlins on Opening Day this upcoming season. The Marlins will play against the Pittsburgh Pirates on that day and look to bounce back from a 2024 season where they missed the postseason.

Marino played for the Dolphins from 1983 to 1999. He threw for 61,361 career yards and 420 touchdowns in his hall of fame career.

He also set the regular season record for passing yards in 1984 with 5,084. That record lasted until 2011, when Drew Brees and Tom Brady surpassed that total. Marino also won the MVP award that season and helped the Dolphins make it all the way to the Super Bowl.

When it was all said and done in 1999, Marino finished as a nine-time pro bowler and a three-time all-pro. He currently sits at ninth all-time in career passing yards.

On Mar. 27, the football legend will bring in the new season of baseball for the Marlins. Miami is coming off a disastrous 2024 season. They finished last in the NL East and had a 62-100 record. Only the Colorado Rockies and Chicago White Sox had less wins last year.

The Marlins also have not been good historically on Opening Day since they came into the league in 1993 with a record of 13-19.

Perhaps Marino can bring the Marlins some luck for a good Opening Day against the Pirates on March 27, 2025.
