Doosan Bears Break KBO Record Scoring 30 Runs

On July 31, 2024, the Doosan Bears set a KBO record for the most runs scored in a game against the first-place KIA Tigers. The Doosan Bears trailed the Tigers 2-1 going into the third inning and went on to win the game 30-6. Although the Tigers sit first in the KBO standings, this game marks the eighth time the Tigers have lost by seven or more runs.

When putting up 30 runs, there have to be a number of contributors. One of the players who shined brightest for the Bears in this game was their newest acquisition, Jared Young. The 29-year-old Canadian had five hits, two home runs, and eight RBIs.

The second baseman for the Bears, Kang Seung Ho, also boasted an impressive stat line. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter had four hits, a home run, and six RBIs. Additionally, catcher Kim Ki Yeon had five hits, scored three times, and contributed with four RBIs.

The Bears swept this away series against the Tigers and currently have a 53-50 record, only eight and a half games back of the Tigers. The Bears have to feel very good about their moves to improve their roster before playoff baseball begins.

Because the Tigers still sit at the top of the standing, there does not seem to be a reason why the team and their fans should be too concerned about their recent performances. However, this series was the last time the two squads faced each other in the regular season. So, with that being said, the Tigers will not have too much confidence going into a playoff series against the Bears because they just lost the series by a combined 30 runs over three games.
