After agreeing to terms with former MLB pitchers Thomas Hatch and Cole Irvin, the Doosan Bears of the KBO bolstered their offense by agreeing to terms with outfielder Jake Cave. The seven-year MLB veteran will earn $1 million in 2025, the maximum amount allowed for an international player.

A 2011 sixth-round pick by the New York Yankees, Cave was traded to the Minnesota Twins in a deal for eventual Rookie of the Year Luis Gil. Cave made his MLB debut in 2018 and impressed with 13 home runs and 111 OPS+. He followed that up with a .805 OPS in 2019, but a series of injuries and underperformance led to the end of his Twins tenure in 2022. Cave spent 2023 with the Phillies before playing 125 games with the Rockies last season.

The signing of Cave puts the Bears at the maximum of three international players for 2025. The new additions will look to help the club recover from becoming the first four seed to lose to a five seed in the Wild-Card round.
