Eddie Diaz has been named the Manager of the UAE National baseball team, the organization announced via Instagram late Tuesday night.
Diaz, who played in three different organizations in Minor League Baseball, has managed 12 seasons in Liga Mexican de Beisbol, winning three consecutive LMB championships and a pair of Caribbean Series championships.
The UAE baseball team will debut in the inaugural Arab Classic Tournament, which will run from Nov 7 to 10 in Dubai.
“I take the challenge with honor, gratitude, and responsibility, but most importantly keeping the passion and the mission to bring our sport to the other side of the world,” Diaz said via Instagram.
In the nine-team tournament, the Middle East and South Asia squads will compete in four-day tournaments, including India vs Pakistan on Friday, November 8th.
The teams will be split into two groups. Group A will include India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the UAE. Group B will feature Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Palestine.
