Federacion De Beisbol Guatemala Announces Roster For Central American Qualifier

On Thursday, Federacion De Beisbol Guatemala announced their roster for the Central American Qualifier that will take place in Managua, Nicaragua at Estadio Nacional Soberania from Feb. 6-12.

Guatemala is No. 55 in the World Baseball Softball Confederation rankings, and could improve its’ position if they finish well during the Central American Qualifier.  The Guatemala national team will have players from their Beisbol Invernal de Guatemala (BIG) winter league and independent league players playing in the United States.

Guatemala last played in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier and finished seventh during the tournament last June.  Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Guatemala placed 12th in the 2020 U-23 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier.

With Panama out of the event, Guatemala has a better chance to finish well in the tournament, which also features El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

The winner earns a berth in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.

The baseball event of the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador will run from June 25 to July 1 at Parque Nacional De Pelota Saturnino Bengoa, located in the Calle Las Mercedes section of San Salvador. Guatemala will open up the round robin of the Central America Qualifier games against Honduras at 11 a.m. on February 7 in Estadio Nacional Soberania.
