On Sunday, the Florida Gators landed a big-time high school recruit. Kevin Roberts Jr., a six-foot-five-inch prospect from Meridian, Miss., announced his commitment to the Gators on X.

According to Perfect Game, he is a top ten overall recruit in the 2026 high school class ranked 8th in the country.

He also is the second-best outfielder in the country and the best player from Mississippi according to the website. Roberts currently plays high school baseball for the Jackson Preparatory School.

Perfect Game describes the Mississippi prospect as a “unicorn athlete.” He not only plays baseball but also plays basketball and does track and field along with that.

They also noted that he has big-time power for a right-handed bat and can throw a fastball in the mid-90s on the mound.

Roberts joins Florida’s 2026 high school class that also features another top ten player in Brady Harris. Harris is the number four overall player in the 2026 class according to their rankings from St. Augustine, Fla.

Perfect Game has the Gators’ high school class ranked sixth overall in the 2026 cycle. They sit just outside of the top five behind Stanford and are just ahead of Wake Forest. The class features five top 100 recruits which now includes Roberts.

If the talented prospect follows through with his commitment, he is set to join Florida and head to Gainesville for the 2027 season.
