The Nippon Professional Baseball offseason is underway, and the Hiroshima Toyo Carp are signing Sandro Fabian to a three-year deal worth “over $5 million,” according to Francys Romero.
“Sources: OF Sandro Fabian (26) has reached an agreement with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in NPB. The Toyo Carp paid a buyout to the Texas Rangers. It’s a multi-year, 3-year deal worth over $5 million,” wrote Romero on X.
Fabian signed a minor league deal with the Giants as a 16-year-old in 2014. After time in their minor league system, he was signed to a minor league deal by the Texas Rangers in 2022. In 2024, he made his Major League Baseball debut. He went hitless in three games with the Rangers. Last season in Triple-A, he slashed .270/.318/.755.
Fabian is currently playing in the Liga de Béisbol Profesional de la República Dominicana (LIDOM) for the Toros del Este. It is his fourth time playing in the LIDOM. His previous three seasons came as a member of the Leones del Escogido. This season, he has a .261 batting average and five home runs in 21 games.
The Native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, will now take his talents to NPB. The Toyo Carp finished fourth in the Japanese Central League with a 68-70 record. The 26- year-old outfielder will look to give them a boost in 2025.
