A major collaboration was announced between the video game Fortnite and Shohei Ohtani. On Mar. 17 at 8 p.m. EST, the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar will be available for Fortnite players to purchase as a skin in the video game’s online shop.
The three-time MVP will receive three different skins that players can choose from when they make the purchase on Fortnite. In his Dodger uniform, he can be seen wearing home white or away grey. He can also be seen in Lego form for Lego Fortnite.
In celebration of the Dodgers playing the Chicago Cubs in the Tokyo Series, Fortnite is also releasing a Samurai skin for Ohtani which features the star player in a Samurai warrior outfit.
The game also is releasing Ohtani themed accessories for players. This includes a backpack for the player skins to wear with Ohtani’s dog, Decoy, and a baseball bat-themed axe to use when harvesting materials within the game.
Fortnite will also feature Ohtani-themed quests based on his historic 50-50 season. These quests will be available on Mar. 18.
This is a major collaboration for Japan’s Major League Baseball star. Fortnite is a video game that sees hundreds of millions of players play. Now, all those players will enjoy themed Ohtani items later this month.
