Dax Whitney’s career is well underway for the Oregon State Beavers.

He was a prospect at Blackfoot High School in Blackfoot, Idaho, and has become the Saturday starter in the Oregon State rotation, making five starts thus far in 2025.

So far in Corvallis, Whitney has a 3.13 ERA in 23 innings of work. Over that same stretch, he has struck out 35 batters while walking 10. He also has given up just one home run while facing 97 total hitters and allowed an opposing batting average of .188 with a high strikeout rate.

Whitney’s best start of the season came on March 8 against the University of San Diego, when he had 10 strikeouts in six innings of work, walking only one batter while giving up no runs.

That game was one of his two wins this season, the other coming against Santa Clara this past weekend.

Currently, Oregon State is 16-3 overall. D1 Baseball has them ranked sixth in the country as of March 17. This team looks like a national championship contender right now, and Whitney is a part of that.

In fact, the reason he chose Oregon State was to win a national championship. If he keeps this up, the Beavers can do that with him slotted in as a steadfast Saturday starter.
