CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Saturday, May 23, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the Miami Hurricanes 9-3 in the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tournament semifinal game.
The Yellow Jackets advance to the ACC Tournament final and will await the winner of the game between the Pittsburgh Panthers and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Georgia Tech head coach James Ramsey had one simple statement to say after his team’s win over Miami.
“This is a special group.”
Ryan Zuckerman with two home runs, Georgia Tech breaks single-season home run record
Ryan Zuckerman led the way for Georgia Tech offensively with two home runs against Miami. He finished the game with four hits and four RBIs.
Zukerman’s second home run of the day came in the fourth inning and set the single-season home run record for Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets now have 123 home runs as a team this season.
Zuckerman talked about his big offensive day and what it meant to set the team’s home run record.
“It just speaks to how good this team is,” Zuckerman said. “We are loaded. You can flip our lineup any way you want, and the same result is going to happen.”
The Georgia Tech third baseman was not the only player to hit a long ball. Vahn Lackey started the scoring for the Yellow Jackets with a two-run home run in the first inning that made it a 2-0 game.
Lackey now has three home runs in the ACC Tournament after he had two home runs against the Virginia Cavaliers on Thursday, May 21.
Jackson Blakely limits Miami’s offense during Georgia Tech’s win
Georgia Tech starting pitcher Jackson Blakely earned the win for the Yellow Jackets. In 5 2/3 innings of work, he surrendered just two runs to the Hurricanes and struck out three.
Georgia Tech scored six runs while Blakely was on the mound, which allowed them to take a commanding lead.
Ramsey talked about Blakely’s start against Miami.
“He is a true [Georgia] Tech man,” said Ramsey. “He is an ace. We have multiple guys like that, and he will be ready to go on Friday if we need him.”
With the win, Blakely’s season record moved to 8-1 on the season. He has pitched at least five innings in his last three starts.
