Shohei Ohtani just won his third career MVP Award following his 50/50 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. A piece of memorabilia from his days in Nippon Professional Baseball has gone up for auction.

Before he was the best player in MLB, Ohtani made waves in NPB. From 2013 to 2017, he played for the Nippon Ham Fighters. He was a five-time NPB All-Star, Pacific League MVP, and ERA Champion.

A game-used 2017 Nippon Ham Fighters jersey has recently been auctioned at Grey Flannel Auctions. As of 8 a.m. EST on Tuesday, November 26, the bidding was $9,743. It will close on Sunday, December 8, at 9 p.m. EST.

Ohtani slashed .332/.403/.540 in 2017, his final season in NPB. He also had a 3.42 ERA in 11 outings as a pitcher. The following season, he signed with the Los Angeles Angels and began his MLB journey.

Ohtani has not only established himself as the best player in baseball but has also become a global icon. Since joining MLB, he has won Rookie of the Year, three MVP Awards, three Silver Sluggers, and four All-Star selections.

Earlier this year, Shohei Ohtani’s 50th home run ball from his 50/50 season was auctioned off. It was sold for $4.392 million, making it the most expensive home run ball ever sold.
