The Indios de Mayagüez won their 20th Liga de Beisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente championship in the best-of-nine series in Game Six on January 24 and beat the Senadores de San Juan 5-2 on the road at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Mayaguez shortstop Isan Diaz won the 2024-25 LBPRC best-of-nine championship series MVP, while batting .450 in 20 at-bats, scoring four runs, cracking nine hits, three doubles, one home run, five RBI, two walks, and two strikeouts.
Indios de Mayaguez manager Wilfredo “Coco” Cordero is the first person in the LBPRC that has won the Rookie of the Year Award, an MVP Award, a Batting Champion regular season title, and lead a team to win a championship in the country’s winter league.

Diaz launched a two-run home run in the top of the second inning over the right field wall, scoring David Mackinnon to jump out to a 2-0 lead.
Indios de Mayaguez designated hitter Anthony Garcia drove a solo home run over the left field fence in the top of the sixth inning to extend the lead to 3-0.
A few batters later, left fielder Danny Ortiz cracked a solo home run over the right field wall to put the bleeding up on the board at 4-0.
Garcia in the top of the seventh inning reached on a fielding error from Senadores de San Juan shortstop Ruben Tejada, scoring Bryan Torres to make it 5-0.
The Senadores de San Juan did not score their first run of the game until the bottom of the eighth inning, when Vimael Machin ripped a ground-rule double over the center field wall, scoring Jan Hernandez.
The final run for the Senadores de San Juan in the bottom of the eighth inning came off the bat of Cornelius Randolph’s RBI single to left field, scoring Kevin Santa to make it 5-2.
Indios de Mayaguez relief pitcher Justin Yeager came into the game in the bottom of the ninth inning and replaced Nelvin Fuentes.
Yeager would get Machin to fly out to Torres in center field for the final out of the game and beat the Senadores de San Juan 5-2.
Indios de Mayaguez starting pitcher Eduardo Rivera recorded the win on Friday, while chucking five innings, allowing one hit, no earned runs, one walk, and striking out five batters.
The Indios de Mayaguez pitching staff threw nine innings, allowing seven hits, two earned runs, three walks, and six strikeouts.
Senadores de San Juan starting pitcher Miguel Martinez earned the loss, throwing 5.2 innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs, one walk, and five strikeouts.

The Indios de Mayaguez were the No. 1 seed in the 2024-25 LBPRC playoffs with ending the regular season at 24-16, the No. 2 seed, Cangrejeros de Santurce went 21-19 with manager Omar Lopez, the No. 3 Senadores de San Juan under manager Ricky Rivera ended the year at 21-19, and the No.4 Criollos de Caguas with manager Ramon Vazquez snuck into the semifinals with their record at 20-20.
The Gigantes de Carolina under manager Edwards Guzman ended the 2024-25 winter league season at 16-24 in last place and the Leones de Ponce with manager Andy Gonzalez finished 18-22 in fifth place with not qualifying for the LBPRC playoffs.
The winner of the 2024-25 LBPRC championship, Indios de Mayaguez will play in the 2025 Caribbean Series against the winners of the host nation LAMP, Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional, Liga de Béisbol Profesional de la República Dominicana , and one invitee with the Japan Breeze team that will appear in the tournament for the first time.
The LAMP, LVBP, LIDOM, and LBPRC are all part of the Confederación de Béisbol Profesional del Caribe (CBPC).
The 2025 Caribbean Series will be held at Estadio Nido de los Águilas from January 31-February 7 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.
El Nido de los Águilas is home to the Aguilas de Mexicali of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico.
