J.C. Escarra To Report To LIDOM Late, Yankees Bringing Catcher On Taxi Squad

With the MLB season almost wrapped up and teams clinching the remaining spots available for the postseason, the Yankees will bring Cuban-American catcher J.C. Escarra on their taxi squad. Escarra reported to the Yankees facility in Tampa today, per reporter Yusseff Diaz.

The 29-year-old spent his entire 2024 season between Double-A and Triple-A within the Yankees organization. So far, through 124 games between both levels, Escarra holds a .261 average, belting 12 home runs, driving in 64 RBI, and hitting 32 doubles.

The Baltimore Orioles drafted Escarra in the 17th round of the 2017 MLB draft out of Florida International University. He would be released after the 2021 season.

He took his talents to the American Association for 2022, joining the Kansas City Monarchs, and then the 2023 season with Atlantic League’s Gastonia Honey Hunters and with Liga Mexicana de Beisbol’s Toros de Tijuana and Algodoneros de Unión Laguna.

Now, depending on how far the Yankees go in the playoffs, it will push back the arrival of Escarra in the Dominican Republic, where he is expected to play with LIDOM’s Aguilas Cibaenas.
