New York Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr. is going to be on the preliminary roster for Great Britain ahead of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, a source told baseball insider Francys Romero.
Chisholm was born in Nassau, Bahamas. Although the Bahamas is an independent country, the British Monarch, King Charles III, is the head of state. For that reason, Chisholm can represent Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic.
Chisholm was slated to represent Great Britain in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but ultimately he did not participate. However, he has represented Great Britain in the past.
During the 2016 World Baseball Classic qualifiers, Chisholm went 4-for-16 with one extra-base hit and an RBI. Great Britain did not need to play in the qualifiers this year and will be in a pool with the United States, Italy, Mexico, and Brazil in 2026. That pool will play games in Houston, Texas, with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
Jazz has grown since his last time representing Great Britain. In 2016, he was just 18 years old. Now he is 27 with an All-Star selection and 81 big league home runs under his belt.
