Australia Native Coen Wynn Signs with Twins – One of Australia’s best pitchers at the 2024 WBSC Premier12, Coen Wynn, signed a temporary contract with the Twins to replace starting pitcher Elieser Hernández. Hernández is on the injured list with a tear in his adductor magnus muscle.

Wynn received an invitation from the Twins to attend their spring training camp in Arizona and made four appearances for Australia out of the bullpen at the Premier12. He posted a 2.25 ERA and four strikeouts in four innings.

The 26-year-old played collegiate baseball at Grand Canyon University from 2018-21 and has spent the last three Australian Baseball League seasons with the Sydney Blue Sox.

Puig, who played with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Guardians during his seven-year MLB career from 2013-19, returned to the Heroes during the offseason after spending the 2022 KBO season with the club.

The 34-year-old from Cuba hit his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field in the bottom of the third inning in Tuesday’s 5-4 win over the Doosan Bears. The Heroes entered Wednesday’s game against the Bears with the worst record in the KBO, 9-17.

KBO MVP Cleared to Resume Training – According to Yoo Jee-ho of Yonhap News Agency, the 2024 KBO MVP, third baseman Kim Do-yeong, received medical clearance from doctors to resume practicing after suffering a grade 1 hamstring injury during the Kia Tigers’ first game of the season.

Yoo also reported that Kim participated in practice on Tuesday, would play his first rehab game on Wednesday with the Tigers’ KBO Futures League team, and take live batting practice on Thursday.

Kim became the youngest player in KBO history to join the 30-30 club, hitting 38 home runs and swiping 40 bags during his MVP season in 2024. He set a league record with 143 runs scored in a single season.
