Ketel Marte’s Career Year Ends With First Silver Slugger Award

Ketel Marte put together a career year for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2024. He was awarded his first career Silver Slugger after his All-Star season.

Marte was a finalist alongside Jonathan India of the Cincinnati Reds and Luis García Jr. of the Washington Nationals. Marte led all second basemen in the National League in runs, home runs, RBIs, batting average, and OPS. He was second to just Nico Hoerner in hits.

Marte set career highs in RBIs, home runs, and WAR in 2024. In his age-30 season, he can finally hold claim to a Silver Slugger Award. Marte was also named an All-Star for just the second time in his career. His last selection came in 2019.

Marte has been one of the most underrated second basemen for years. It is about time he was recognized for his ability at the plate. He has always been a consistent player at the dish but hasn’t earned the recognition that other players at the position do.
