The Korean Baseball Organization is loaded with talented players who could make the jump to the MLB. One of the most promising prospects in the KBO, Kim Ji-chan, plays for the Samsung Lions.

Hailing from South Korea, the contact-hitting second baseman has taken the KBO by storm in the 2024 season. Kim Ji-chan boasts an impressive .312 batting average and an on-base percentage just over .400. Clearly, the 23-year-old budding superstar does a terrific job getting on base. Still, Ji-chan is extremely disciplined at the plate. Ji-chan has the best BB/K percentage in the KBO at 1.50. Because of this, Ji-chan has been an extremely hard out for all opposing pitchers and an exceptional leadoff hitter for the Samsung Lions.

Moreover, Ji-chan is a threat on the base paths. This year, the speedy second baseman has the fourth most stolen bases in the league. Additionally, Ji-Chan has the highest success rate in stealing bases out of any player with more than 15 attempts.

The Lions currently sit in second place in the KBO with less than a month of regular season baseball left to play. Ji-Chan will likely be a cornerstone for the Lions to win the KBO title.

The left handed hitter and right handed throwing second baseman is in the final year of his contract with the Samsung Lions. Although the Lions and other teams in the KBO will have immense interest in signing the rising superstar, do not be surprised if MLB teams look to obtain the young second baseman.
