LAMP: Caneros de Los Mochis Improve to 3-0; Charros de Jalisco Still Winless

Caneros de Los Mochis 3, Yaquis de Obregon 1 – Alan Espinoza’s two-run single in the second put Los Mochis ahead for good, and Felix Fermin’s club added an insurance run in the sixth on an RBI single from Felix Stevens. Seven Los Mochis pitchers combined to allow just one run on four hits and seven walks. Obregon’s lone run came on an RBI single from Fernando Villegas in the seventh.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo 8, Charros de Jalisco 6 – The Charros cruised into the top of the eighth with a 6-2 lead, only to give up six runs to Hermosillo and remain winless. Jordan Diaz hit a two-run double to center, Jasson Atondo hit a two-run single to left, and Angel Camacho contributed an RBI single in the big inning. Starter Luis Payan allowed one run on three hits in six innings of work for Jalisco.

Sultanes de Monterrey 6, Aguilas de Mexicali 2 – Brandon Villareal went 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs, driving in Monterrey’s first run with a sixth-inning sac fly and ripping an RBI double to left in the seventh. Starter Zach Muckenhirn went six innings for Monterrey, allowing one run on one hit, with one walk and one strikeout.

Algodoneros de Guasave 7, Tomateros de Culiacan 3 – Drew Avans went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored as the Algodoneros got their first win of the season at home Tuesday night. Dwight Smith Jr. homered for Culiacan in the top of the sixth.

Mayos de Navajoa 5, Venados de Mazatlan 3 – Matt McDermott went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, and Brantley Bell and Luis Juarez both homered in the top of the fifth as the Mayos got their first win of the season on the road. The Navajoa bullpen allowed just one baserunner over the final four innings of the game to secure the win.

Tomateros de Culiacan – Deactivated RHP Roel Ramirez retroactive to October 14. Ramirez is eligible to be reactivated on October 24. Activated RHP Edgar Arredondo. Deactivated IF Juan Franco Alva, who is eligible to be activated on October 16. Activated OF Dwight Smith Jr.
