The eyes of the baseball world were trained on the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico on Christmas Day, the only league playing games on the holiday, and three of the league’s five games went to extra innings, gifting fans with extra baseball.

Charros de Jalisco 8, Naranjeros de Hermosillo 3 – Tirso Ornelas homered in the seventh, and the Charros breezed past the league-leading Naranjeros to improve to 35-28. Ornelas went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored, and Mateo Gil hit a two-run single in the third and a sac fly in the fifth for Jalisco.

Venados de Mazatlan 3, Mayos de Navojoa 0 – Fabricio Macias, Phillip Ervin, and Jose Gaitan each hit RBI singles in the third as the Venados kept their slim playoff hopes alive, improving to 12-16 in the second half. They’ll likely need to rise to at least sixth place to have a chance at the postseason. They’re currently in eighth, with three teams, Guasave, Culiacan, and Obregon tied at 14-14 ahead of them in the standings.

Sultanes de Monterrey 9, Aguilas de Mexicali 8 (11 Innings) – Brandon Villareal’s RBI single in the 11th inning pushed the Sultanes past Mexicali, which coughed up three different leads in the game. Villareal wente 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Yaquis de Obregon 2, Caneros de Los Mochis 1 (10 Innings) – Roberto Valenzuela singled home Santiago Chavez in the 10th, and Samuel Zazueta came on and secured the three-out save for the Yaquis, who are back to .500 for the second half, one game behind the Caneros.

Algodoneros de Guasave 4, Tomateros de Culiacan 3 (12 Innings) – Culiacan took the lead in the top of the 10th when Luis Verdugo scurried home on a wild pitch, but Guasave’s Michael Robles tied the game in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single to left that scored Jose Lizarraga. Two innings later, Alexis Wilson’s bases-loaded single to center ended the game, pushing Alan Lopez home for the Algodoneros.
