Naranjeros de Hermosillo 6, Venados de Mazatlan 4 – Clint Coulter went 2-for-3 with two runs scored as Hermosillo clinched a share of the second half title with a win against Mazatlan, though they’ve fallen a game behind Culiacan in the season-long standings. Regardless, the Naranjeros have a lock on a No. 1 or No. 2 seed for the LAMP playoffs, which start January 1.
Tomateros de Culiacan 10, Caneros de Los Mochis 4 – The win against Los Mochis Saturday night gives the Tomateros a one-game lead in the season standings. Culiacan, like Hermosillo, will hold either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the playoffs. Dwight Smith Jr. went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for Culiacan.
Algodoneros de Guasave 9, Mayos de Navojoa 6 – Roberto Ramos went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, sending Guasave’s first run home with a single in the opening frame, drawing a bases loaded walk in the third, and hitting a two-run single in the eighth. A sweep of the series could propel the Algodoneros to a fourth place finish, though they’d need a lot of help from other teams.
Yaquis de Obregon 7, Sultanes de Monterrey 3 – Victor Mendoza, Jonathan Aranda, and Christian Villaneuva each homered for Obregon. A sweep of the series could earn the Yaquis a third-place finish in the second half. The Sultanes (22-44) are awaiting the season’s merciful end.
Charros de Jalisco 4, Aguilas de Mexicali 0 – Carlos Mendivil hit a solo homer and six Jalisco pitchers combined to allow two hits and two walks in a shutout. A sweep could earn the Charros a tie for first place in the second half should Hermosillo lose their two remaining games against Mazatlan.
