LAMP: Sultanes de Monterrey Hand Tomateros de Culiacan Their Second Straight Loss

Sultanes de Monterrey 7, Tomateros de Culiacan 4 – The Sultanes exploded for five runs in the second inning and handed Culiacan (22-8) its second straight loss. Jose Guadalupe Chavez hit a two-run homer and Josh Stowers had an RBI single in the second, and Stowers later came in to score when Riley Unroe hit into a fielder’s choice. The Tomateros mounted a rally in the ninth, getting four runs, but it was too little, too late.

Mayos de Navojoa 7, Caneros de Los Mochis 4 – Eric Filia and Felix Stevens each hit solo homers for Los Mochis, but the Mayos (13-17) chipped away at the Caneros, scoring single runs in four different innings and three in the seventh. Matt McDermott went 2-for-5 with a triple and Bobby Bradley went 3-for-5 for Navojoa, and each scored a run.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo 11, Algodoneros de Guasave 3 – Up 6-0 after just three innings, Hermosillo kept piling on the runs and improved to 17-13. Agustin Murillo and Willie Calhoun hit two-run homers for the Naranjeros, and Irving Lopez hit solo homers in the seventh and ninth innings. Starter Robert Stock allowed three runs on five hits for Hermosillo.

Venados de Mazatlan 9, Aguilas de Mexicali 3 – Phillip Ervin went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and two doubles, one in the fourth that scored Ramiro Pena and another in the sixth that scored Brayan Quintero and Carlos Figueroa, as the Venados (12-18) maintained a four-game lead over last-place Monterrey.
