LAMP: Yaquis de Obregon Knock Off Caneros de Los Mochis

Yaquis de Obregon 5, Caneros de Los Mochis 1 – The Yaquis (2-3) scored four runs in the top of the fourth, and that was enough to pin the first loss of the season on the Caneros, who fell to 4-1. Anthony Garcia went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, two runs scored, and a walk for Obregon, who got 5 2/3 innings of two-hit ball from starter Saul Vasquez. Vasquez struck out four and walked three.

Tomateros de Culiacan 7, Algodoneros de Guasave 0 – Christian Santana went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles for the Tomateros, who improved to 4-1. Culiacan clubbed 14 base hits, and Esteban Quiroz scored three runs in the win. Guasave managed eight hits in the game, but went 1-for-1 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 baserunners.

Charros de Jalisco 6, Naranjeros de Hermosillo 2 – Julian Ornelas hit his first homer of the year, hit a sac fly, and drove in two more runs with a single to center in the  bottom of the fourth as the Charros improved to 2-3. Nicholas Torres hit a solo homer in the eighth, and Jasson Atondo had a pair of hits for Hermosillo.

Mayos de Navajoa 7, Venados de Mazatlan 3 – Julian Escobedo’s two-run double in the second gave the Mayos a 3-0 lead, and the center fielder went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs as Navajoa improved to 3-2. Four relievers combined to allow three hits and no runs over the final four innings for Navajoa.

Weekend Series Schedule Changed – The weekend series between the Naranjeros de Hermosillo and Venados de Mazatlan has been pushed back one day. Game one of the series will be Saturday night at 9 p.m. EDT, with a seven-inning doubleheader on Sunday starting at 5 p.m. EDT.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo – Deactivated LHP Javier Rodriguez and RHP Saul Arias, who are both eligible to be reactivated October 18. Added RHP Orlando Gonzalez and RHP Enrique Castillo to the active roster.

Mayos de Navajoa – Deactivated LHP Jorge Luis Saucedo, who is eligible to be reactivated October 18. Added LHP Damián Mendoza to the active roster.

Algodoneros de Guasave – Deactivated LHP Ian Mendoza, LHP Edwin Cervantes, and RHP Juan Cossio, who are  eligible to be reactivated October 18. Added RHP Geno Encina, LHP Manuel Broca and RHP Peyton Gray to the active roster.

Tomateros de Culiacan – Deactivated RHP Diego Castro, and deactivated RHP Axel Sauceda retroactive to October 16, who are both eligible to be reactivated October 18. Added LHP Rubén Reyes and LHP Conner Menez to the active roster.

Venados de Mazatlan – Deactivated RHP Víctor Morales, who is eligible to be reactived October 18, and deactivated IF Isaías Tejeda retroactive to October 16, who is eligible to be reactivated October 21. Added RHP Fernando Burgueño and RHP Luis Escobar to the active roster.

Charros de Jalisco – Deactivated OF Carlso Baez, who is eligible to be reactivated October 18. Added RHP Julio Teheran to the active roster.
